Friyay

Hi everyone. Hope you guys have been well. I am feeling better. Created some stuff this week, and working on more projects. I feel like these projects never stop growing. Maybe that is a bit of my ADHD getting in the way. Regardless, I am planning on pumping out some more work. I have merch work I am doing, which has put the work on Jack’s comic on the back burner. I do have some pages completed with inking, screens, and shading. I still have to add the text, but I am doing that at the end of the chapter. This is because in procreate the text feature is pretty crappy.

I have inked up to 12 pages. So we will see how much work I can pump out this week. I really would like the first chapter the comic can drop sooner than later. It’s looking though that maybe mid June the first chapter will be complete. I have making promises. I live in the maybe zone.

Anyway, hope everyone has a great and creative weekend! :D

feeling low

This week has been a struggle. I have a lot I need to do. But I feel like I am no good at this. I know I have something to share with everyone. But somedays it’s hard to see that. Regardless I am pushing through. Dropping more items and modifying the website today. The critter line is dropping. These are the critters you didn’t ask for but are getting. Enjoy :)

keeping up APPEARANCES

As an artist just trying to get people to see my art, it is sometimes exhausting with posting. This is why I usually do messy sketches. But sometimes that even takes a while to think of something I want to draw. Using the work think loosely. As usually it just happens for me. I have no real outcome in mind with my sketches. I start with a basic shape or something and just vibe after that.

I think though the issues is the constant posting. It’s frustrating that it needs to be done to keep up visibility rates. It something that I feel I need to do everyday if possible. Its just getting tiring because some days are great others are bad. Which, not everything I sketch is extraordinary. Honestly though, I find the pieces I do that I like, usually don’t do as great as the ones that I hate. That’s funny I think. So I try to post a bit of everything I do.

I do plan on updating the shop some today. Will be dropping more items and another sticker reveal video today.

I’ve got quite a few projects going on. It can be difficult to balance and work on each of them equally. The comic is the more fun project I do have to admit. My friend is helping me edit it and we are working on my story board. Never made one of those, so it’s all a learning curve.

Never give up. Never surrender.

Struggles with lives

Good morning everyone!

Here on the east coast it is 8:45 am. Yesterday I had tried live streaming on YouTube. I am going to try and get it down here soon. I am trying it out on YouTube first until I get it just right. Then I will be live streaming, hopefully daily, that’s the goal, on YouTube, TikTok [as long as it’s here in the US] and twitch.

I have not set up my twitch account yet. I do plan on doing that.

Now for some exciting news. I have started working on again on the comic about the amazing and talented magician Jack Grady. Ive roughed the first chapter a while back. Now it’s time to finally to finish chapter one. I will be working on this project currently until it’s done. The goal is to have something substantial by his next show!

I am planning on seeing Jack again at a show of his on May 29 in NYC! Anyone that loves comedy and magic should come on out! His shows are amazing. I’m also usually in his lives, so if you want to check it out and come be part of our magic community then you're more than welcome!

Also, I am introducing mystery stickers to my sticker purchases. For any sticker purchase, you will get a random mystery sticker that is not listed in my shop. Think of them as fun collectable stickers. I will be updating these stickers regularly. I will be updating my site today to reflect this.

The art struggles continue, with the lives and completing this comic’s first chapter. I will be posting always my messy sketches though. They usually only take from 10 to 30 minutes. I don’t like to spend any much length of time on my sketches unless it feels especially fun.

Hope everyone is having a great week! :D

Lost in transmission

I have so many projects going on. I have two comics I really want to start working on. I can see it in my head. So clearly sometimes. When trying to draw and write the story that I see it gets lost somewhere.

There is this movie, wrist cutters: A love story. It’s a interesting, dark comedy if you haven’t seen it. Anyway, there is this car that where when something falls underneath the passenger seat it is never able to be recovered. Sometimes I feel like that is where my creativity goes sometimes.

The worst part is when I start drawing it just falls flat. I’m a pretty terrible writer though. I wish I could express what I want with words clearly. Maybe I will watch a YouTube or something on how to write a story. I’m a procrastinator, unfortunately.

Anyway, I went to my first con last weekend. That was so much fun. I got to see some really wicked art, and sick costumes. I’d love to get into cosplay. It’d be another one of those YouTube tutorial moments.

Hope everyone is having a good week and has a great weekend. Framed my print this weekend too! It’s fun seeing my art as a finished product.

Sketching

This week I did a lot of sketching. I added quite a few new videos to my socials of some new unfinished tendencies. This week I also released two prints I had been working on.

Sometimes it’s so difficult to see the end of a project, but then I keep going. I’ve gotten faster. It used to take me almost 20 hours to finish a full piece. Then that moved to about 11 ish hours. Now I can do a finished piece in about 8. This is huge for me. What I have learned from this, is once you hit your stride [find you style], it becomes so much easier.

Tips for the week for procreate:

Use the tools. Your best friend will be the screen flip. It allows you to see what is looking odd and helps you see it from a new perspective. Sometimes I even draw upside down. Also, use the warp tool. That’s become my new best friend. I have not been using reference photos for a lot of my poses recently.

I am wanting to do more backgrounds and dynamic poses and multiple people in frames. I am working towards trying to complete some comics. My goal is to actually complete Urban Life. I have been working on the concept of this comic for about 12 years. I have had a lot of learning and growing to do with my art.

You never stop learning as an artist and don’t be afraid to try something new and hate it. Definitely do not compare to other artist. Everyone has a different style and grows differently. Imposter syndrome attacks us all, I think.

Anyway, hope everyone has a great weekend and feels inspired and sketches something fun!

another day another week

Afternoon everyone, hope everyone’s week is off to a good start so far. I finished my Alchemy print. I am very happy with how the colors turned out. I have been having a lot of fun experimenting with using lots of different colors, not only have I learned a lot but it’s been so much fun.

I have another print I am working on completing. I don’t have much more to be finished with it. I’ve been trying to do sketches everyday. They can be difficult to do.

The way I do my messy sketches is to post one that takes anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. Usually it's around 15 minutes on average to complete a rough messy sketch. The inspiration is the difficult part.

Anyway, you know artist struggles. Hope everyone has a great week. I am going to try and update this blog at least once a week, but I am going to try for twice. I think during these blogs I’ll share my art struggles and what I am working on. Id love to have a type of community here, so I am working on building that here.

:]
