Sketching

This week I did a lot of sketching. I added quite a few new videos to my socials of some new unfinished tendencies. This week I also released two prints I had been working on.

Sometimes it’s so difficult to see the end of a project, but then I keep going. I’ve gotten faster. It used to take me almost 20 hours to finish a full piece. Then that moved to about 11 ish hours. Now I can do a finished piece in about 8. This is huge for me. What I have learned from this, is once you hit your stride [find you style], it becomes so much easier.

Tips for the week for procreate:

Use the tools. Your best friend will be the screen flip. It allows you to see what is looking odd and helps you see it from a new perspective. Sometimes I even draw upside down. Also, use the warp tool. That’s become my new best friend. I have not been using reference photos for a lot of my poses recently.

I am wanting to do more backgrounds and dynamic poses and multiple people in frames. I am working towards trying to complete some comics. My goal is to actually complete Urban Life. I have been working on the concept of this comic for about 12 years. I have had a lot of learning and growing to do with my art.

You never stop learning as an artist and don’t be afraid to try something new and hate it. Definitely do not compare to other artist. Everyone has a different style and grows differently. Imposter syndrome attacks us all, I think.

Anyway, hope everyone has a great weekend and feels inspired and sketches something fun!
